Chai Tea Latte Concentrate

So a few weeks ago I got a taste for a chai tea latte.  Yes I know it’s hot but you can drink this cold, too, if you wanted.  I try to go to the site where I wrote the blog and low and behold the site is no longer.  Imagine my disappointment.  Since that site doesn’t exist any longer I’ve decided to bring it and a few of my other blogs from them over here.  Please note that this recipe is a concentrate and is NOT made to be drunken on it’s own.  It’s made so that when milk is added the flavor of the chai tea isn’t lost.  I originally wrote this circa December 2013.

How to Cut a T-Shirt: Slashes with a Hood

A couple weeks ago OnlineFabricStore.net held a mini contest on Instagram for a “wicked good fabric” t-shirt.  Lucky for me I was chosen as one of the winners!  About a week later I received my package and in it was the t-shirt AND a reuable shopping bag, some beautiful quatrefoil fabric and a package of flowering seeds.  Of course, me being me, I couldn’t just let the shirt be.  I found some cute fabric (on sale even) and decided to make my first cut t-shirt.  This will be part 1 in a series with how I decorate my flower pot and what I do with my fabric being parts 2 and 3.

What you’ll need:

T-shirt
Knit fabric
Scissors
Pins
Measuring tape
Chalk (I used regular chalk. It won’t hurt the shirt and you won’t see any lines once your done.)
NOTE: 1/4 inch seam allowances are used throughout most of this tutorial.

Wedding Centerpiece: Reusable Mason Jar Cover – Behind the Scenes

A super awesome person had a birthday a month ago and for it I told her to pick a color.  She chose purple, and this is what I came up with.  I thought it would make an awesome centerpiece for for a wedding and it’s especially handy since the flowers and the wrap can be removed.

Egg Roll Crackers with Garlic Oil

I made egg rolls for the first time a few weeks ago and they turned out AMAZING.  However, I will have to find a new sauce with which to eat them because sweet and sour sauce just has too much salt (I’ve been cutting out processed food and I can taste the salt in SO MANY things now).  Since I had a package of egg roll wraps left over I decided to do something else with them and came up with this.  They make the perfect appetizer.

DIY: High Low Skirt with Zipper Embellishment

I’ve got a new video on YouTube!  This is my favorite skirt yet!  Something new I’m trying is that on the Mondays I post a video, there will be a blog post talking more about the video.  Inspiration, creative process, what was going on in my head, etc.  Maybe I can even post some bloopers.  Gotta laugh at yourself right?  The regular DIY/tutorial posts will be back next week and the weeks where I don’t make a video.

What’s up next week?  Come back and see.

DIY: BCBG Max Azria Inspired Maxi Dress

While searching for maxi dress to make for the summer I came across this BCBG Max Azria maxi dress.  I like dresses that cinch at the waist so I decided to give it a try.

What you’ll need:

2 yards main fabric (suggestion: silk, cotton voile, rayon, polyester blend, etc.  avoid cotton because it won’t have the proper flow)
2 yards accent fabric (suggestion: same as above, but a different texture for added dimension)
2 inch elastic
ruler
scissors
rotary cutter
safety pin

DIY: Aztec Print Dress

Believe it or not, I had this dress in mind when I started.  I wasn’t able to find the fabric appropriate for this dress, so as usual I kinda winded it.  This is what I came up with.  Beautiful Aztec print don’t you think?
